There is a fairly new and positively delicious theme to Bridal Showers/Bridesmaid's "Luncheons" these days. Influenced by our friends across the sea, the "Afternoon Tea" has become delightful way to spend time with your friends.

Fun Theme Parties now offers a Bridal Tea Party with the same theme character used in the children's tea party. Pretty Petunia is the hostess and there is nothing more relaxing than a steaming pot of tea, accompanied by finger sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, and an assortment of wonderful cookies and cakes!

Having an afternoon tea party has its roots in the childhood of countless women. Many a young girl has spent countless summer afternoons hosting imaginary tea parties with their imaginary friends. As little girls we all dressed up, walked around in our Mother's stuff. The lipstick was the brightest red and we put fancy hats upon our heads. Now that we've grown, we wear our own. A tea party is a sweet old fashioned way to celebrate this special day for the bride.

An afternoon tea is elegant and perfect for so many reasons:
  • In appreciation and gratitude for their participation in her wedding, it is traditional for the bride to treat her maids to a party. An afternoon tea party is a perfect time for the bride to acknowledge her bridal party, and an appropriate time to give them their gifts. Also, because many members of the bridal party often come from out of town, it is a wonderful chance for the bridal party to spend some quality time together before the nuptials.
  • A wedding does more than join two people. It builds a bridge between two families, and a "Bride to Be" Tea Party is the ideal setting for the brides mother, mother in law, and even the grandmothers to get acquainted. This special tea party will become a cherished memory for the new bride and the families it brings together.
  • If hosted by the Bridesmaids, a tea party is the time to say farewell to the bride, and to take some pressure off the bride and her family. It is also a good time to schedule a final dress fitting or give the bride a gift.
  • A bridal tea party brings together the bride-to-be's old friends and family to celebrate her engagement. Since this may be the first occasion in which families meet, a certain amount of formality and elegance demonstrates the value placed on the meeting. At the same time, it needs to be somewhat relaxed and personal, allowing time for the sharing of stories and advice. A bridal tea party offers just enough time for mingling and enjoyment of the unexpected.

Marriage is a door, which looks out upon a beautiful view. As that door is opened and the horizon unfolds before you, know that nothing is sweeter than the warmth of one hand within another.
